About GoScram

GoScram answers the simplest outdoor question: What should I do outside today?

What It Is

GoScram is a weather-powered activity guide built specifically for Ohio. We combine real-time weather conditions with local knowledge to recommend the best outdoor activities for right now — not last weekend, not next month, but today. Whether it's a perfect day for smallmouth bass on the Muskingum or too windy for paddling at Salt Fork, GoScram tells you before you load the car.

Who It's For

Anyone in Ohio who wants to spend more time outside. Weekend hikers, after-work anglers, families looking for a Saturday adventure, and seasoned outdoors people who want conditions checked before they drive an hour. If you've ever stared out the window and wondered whether it's worth heading to the trails, GoScram is for you.

How It Works

Our scoring engine evaluates current and forecasted weather against the ideal conditions for each activity type. A sunny 65-degree day with light wind scores high for hiking and biking. Overcast skies with steady barometric pressure? Great fishing day. We factor in temperature, wind, precipitation, UV index, cloud cover, and more to generate ranked recommendations.

Recommendations update throughout the day as conditions change, so you're always seeing what makes sense right now.

Our Data

GoScram pulls from public, authoritative sources to keep recommendations grounded in real data:

  • National Weather Service — real-time forecasts, alerts, and conditions across Ohio
  • Ohio Department of Natural Resources — state parks, wildlife areas, seasonal information
  • National Park Service — Cuyahoga Valley and other federal sites
  • OpenStreetMap — trail networks, water access points, and park boundaries
  • USGS — river levels and water conditions for paddling and fishing
