Privacy Policy

The Short Version

GoScram doesn't require an account, doesn't sell your data, and collects as little information as possible. We need your approximate location to show you relevant weather and activities — that's about it.

What We Collect

Location Data

When you use GoScram, we request your approximate location through your browser to provide weather-relevant activity recommendations for your area. This location data is used in real time to fetch weather conditions and is not stored on our servers. You can deny the location request and still use the site — we'll default to Columbus, Ohio.

Analytics

We use basic analytics to understand how people use GoScram — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and which activities are most popular. This helps us improve the site. Analytics data is aggregated and not tied to individual users.

No Accounts, No Personal Data

GoScram does not require user accounts. We don't collect names, email addresses, or any personal information through normal use of the site. If you email us directly, we'll have your email address from that correspondence.

Cookies

GoScram uses minimal cookies — only what's needed for basic analytics and site functionality. We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. No third-party ad networks operate on this site.

Third-Party Services

GoScram relies on external services to function. These services may receive limited data as part of normal operation:

  • National Weather Service API — receives your approximate coordinates to return local weather forecasts. Operated by the U.S. government.
  • OpenStreetMap — map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap contributors. Their privacy policy applies to map tile requests.
  • USGS Water Services — river and stream data is fetched from public USGS APIs. No personal data is transmitted.

Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to how we handle data, we'll update this page with a new date. For a site with no user accounts and minimal data collection, changes should be rare.
