Hueston Woods State Park

A premier southwest Ohio destination centered around Acton Lake. The park protects one of Ohio's last remaining stands of old-growth beech-maple forest — some trees are over 300 years old. The Big Woods Trail through this ancient forest is a must-hike. Acton Lake (625 acres) offers fishing, boating, and a swimming beach. The lodge has a golf course, indoor pool, and restaurant. Fossil hunting is popular — the area's Ordovician limestone is rich with 450-million-year-old marine fossils.
