Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve

The deepest gorge in Ohio with 200-foot sandstone cliffs. Two trails: the easy 0.5-mile gorge floor trail (paved, wheelchair-accessible sections) and the challenging 2.5-mile rim trail with stunning overlooks. The rim trail is considered one of the most scenic hikes in Ohio. Hemlocks and hardwoods fill the narrow gorge, keeping it cool even in summer. Part of the greater Hocking Hills trail system. The preserve is more pristine than nearby state parks — no picnic areas or playgrounds, just raw nature. Spring wildflowers are exceptional.
